Final Swarm: LaMelo Ball's PUMA MB.03 'Blue Hive' is a 2023 Buzzer Beater

What lights up the court more than LaMelo Ball's circus lay-ups and dime passes? Inspired colourway after colorway of his signature PUMA MB line. It’s been a bumper year for the MB, and all three of Melo’s signature sneakers have been flying out the door in new designs. With the Dexter’s Laboratory x PUMA MB.03 right around the corner, surely that’d be a bow on a huge year for PUMA Hoops and their NBA star, but nope, there’s another MB coming. Stamping a definitive ‘This Was My Year’ on 2023 hoops releases is the ‘Blue Hive’ MB.03.

Probably the most popular of Ball’s sneakers, which is a stellar line-up anyway, the MB.03 has had no shortage of colourful treatments this year, with just some highlights being: the neon-green LaFrancé, the regal ‘ Golden Child’, the oozing 'Toxic', and the recent Dexter's Lab creation. While PUMA and Melo clearly aren't running out of ideas, PUMA Hoops have crafted a simple but spacey design.

Sporting a space age blue and black aesthetic, the upper is constructed with a textile build washed with a jet-black veneer and highlighted with blue slashes on the medial and lateral sides that reveal the blue mesh base beneath. The sole unit is constructed with a speckled blue and black midsole, which contrasts against the blue outsole spilling from beneath. The outsole also shares the same claw-scratch finishes as the body of the shoe. The heel is adorned with PUMA and Melo branding, with the tongue adding a flourish beneath the black laces.

The PUMA MB.03 ‘Blue Hive’ is due for release on December 8 with a $130 price tag.
