The Yeezy BOOST 380 is a relatively underrated model in the adidas Yeezy offering. Not seen as frequently as the meat-and-potatoes 350, and seemingly releasing to an irregular cycle like its 500 and 700 siblings, the 380 is always an intriguing drop – when it chooses to, that is. The next colourway in the elusive model’s catalogue is the ‘Covellite’.

A quick appointment with Dr. Google identifies ‘Covellite’ as an iridescent, blue steel (no, not that Blue Steel) mineral ore related to copper. This thematic and nomenclature designation continues a long trend of particular Yeezy colourways taking inspiration from geology. As such, the rocky upper weave and earthy complementary colours do their best to express the slightly lustrous qualities of the obscure mineral. Some reflective elements wouldn’t go astray either, and it’s been used on a number of previous 380 colourways, but they appear to be absent here.

What is present, however, is the full-length BOOST soles that deliver luxurious comfort, while the rest of the 380’s design is for the eye of the beholder. These midsoles are wrapped in dark brown gum rubber outsoles, which is a little different to the norm.

As always, expect the Yeezy BOOST 380 ‘Covellite’ to have a tight allocation at select global boutiques and adi direct. Pencil in March 15 for the drop.
