The Yeezy 500 High Surfaces in ‘Wakaran’Release: 8 February 2021
The Yeezy arsenal is full of weird and whacky flex-worthy silhouettes that are loved by many, but there’s nothing quite like the Yeezy 500. Making its debut way back in 2017, it made some serious noise due to its bulbous sole unit, out-there construction, and low-key colourways. It was both easy and hard to rock at the same time! By 2019, Kanye West had completely flipped it on its head, giving it a high-top makeover. Boosting their public profile after Kourtney Kardashian teased a pair, they were plunged into the sneakersphere when a slew of low-key iterations hit store shelves.
Taking a temporary, unofficial hiatus, it looks like the Yeezy 500 High will be making its mark on 2021’s sneakerscape, because another colourway has touched down dubbed the ‘Wakaran’. This news comes fresh off the back of the ‘Mist’ joint that’s said to be releasing this month, and the ‘Frozen Blue’ that is rumoured for a drop this year.
From the imagery provided, the ‘Wakaran’ has been slapped silly with the signature Yeezy aesthetic of earthy tones and technical fabrics. Up top, a nylon base makes way for clean suede overlays and subtle touches of leather – all delivered in a creamy hue. Down below, the sole has been doused in a dark grey, and boasts the comfy adiPrene tech.
The Yeezy 500 High ‘Wakaran’ has been locked in to release on February 8 at select Yeezy stockists around the globe.
