After making the somewhat desperate plea late last year, it’s been great to see the return of the  Nike  Air Tuned Max in 2021. And we’ve already seen a whole bunch of fresh colourways on the retro model, including ‘Aquamarine’, ‘Midnight Navy’, and the all-important  ‘Dark Charcoal’. Now official pics have emerged of this ‘Racer Blue’ rendition – a colourway that truly matches the era that spawned the Air Tuned Max.

When it debuted in 1999, the Air Tuned Max was a member of Nike’s futuristic Alpha Project, and took the mantle of being the lightest Air Max release at the time. Featuring a moulded Foamposite heel, and full-length Tuned Air cushioning, the Air Tuned Max made some serious waves in the sneakersphere as the wider world excitedly approached the new millennium. This year’s re-emergence is the first retro of the Air Tuned Max, and Beaverton seem to have really focused on making it as accurate as possible.

Pairs of this ‘Racer Blue’ Air Tuned Max are expected to hit Nike and selected Swoosh stockists very soon.
