The DTLR x New Balance 990v4 ‘Wild Style 2.0’ is Off the Chain
The series has been a lynchpin of NB’s catalogue for a long, long time. A grey-haired progenitor of the modern normcore style, the chameleonic qualities of the 990 and its various guises throughout its five-volume career have seen the 990 repeatedly rear its head as a cultural powerhouse.
Collaborators clamour over one another for a chance at remixing the sneaker, while the dad shoe phenomenon sweeping the globe in 2017, of course, owes much to the successes of the 99X series more broadly.
Retail juggernaut are now partnering with New Balance yet again, the latest 990v4 collaboration appropriately dubbed the ‘Wild Style 2.0’. A sequel to their previous colourway, the model cracks open the crayons for a lively rendition replete with pastel-like blue, yellow, purple, red and green. Manufactured in a classic mix of mesh, leather and suede, the 990v4 of course features New Balance’s signature ENCAP cushioning.
