Nike Continue to Fuse Football and Fashion with the Air Max Plus ‘Tiempo’

Having recently brought street style to the pitch by way of their TN-inspired Mercurial, Nike are continuing to explore the synergies between fashion and the beautiful game – only this time in reverse. The Swoosh have just revealed the Air Max Plus ‘ Tiempo’, which sees the TN feature reworked uppers inspired by the iconic football boot.

To kick things off, the tuned-up ‘Tiempo’ forgoes the shoe’s usual mesh and TPU construction, instead opting for a sleek and stealthy black leather build and monochromatic stitched details – just like vintage iterations of the boot. The OG boot also features stark white Swooshes and a fold-over tongue, which have both been transferred onto the new model.

Admittedly the Air Max Plus might not be the first silhouette you think of when it comes to football (it’s not exactly a throwback footy casual staple), but there’s no denying the model’s place among fans of the modern-day game. Alongside the aforementioned Mercurial boot, the Swoosh brought in the likes of Paris Saint-German and FC Barcelona for collaborative pairs, and also based the Nike TN ‘Marseille’ on the club’s Velodrome stadium.
