The adidas Y-3 Qasa High Recalls ‘Memories of Orange’

Yohji Yamamoto and adidas are celebrating 20 years of their Y-3 partnership with a new collection titled ‘Chapter 3: Memories of Orange’. Among the expansive assortment of apparel, accessories and footwear is the revived Qasa High, a model that ruled the ‘tech ninja’ aesthetic in the 2010s. While its familiar ankle-hugging lines return, this new vibrant orange colourway is anything but stealthy.

While the Qasa may look quite futuristic – even after nearly a decade since its debut – its design is actually steeped in adidas history. Its hovercraft-like soles are derived on the 1990s Tubular midsoles on select running models, and the lace loop hardware on the ankle shaft are lifted straight from the ZX series runners.

The elements that are decidedly more contemporary are the stretch neoprene uppers, elastic foot bands and textural additions via suede bumpers. Monochromatic orange provides the palette for the entire shoe, save for cream white accents on the sole and heel branding. In rather dramatic fashion, these shoes are devoid of any Three Stripes branding, instead opting for Y-3 and Yohji Yamamoto callouts – as it should.

The adidas Y-3 Qasa High in orange will be available from adidas and select retailers from July 15.
