Back in the early 2010s, the adidas Y-3 Qasa High absolutely ruled the ‘tech ninja’ look. This upmarket model under adi’s partnership with Yohji Yamamoto pioneered the sleek sock fit and chunky sole styling of the era, and it still cuts a mean figure today. Seemingly out of the blue, the Three Stripes have decided to effectively retro the original black and white edition of this time capsule sneaker.

There is actually a historical cue in the Qasa: the hovercraft-like soles are actually a modern take on the Tubular cushioning system adidas briefly used in the early 1990s. Of course, this aesthetic precedes the Yeezy BOOST line that championed bulbous soles from day dot. Heritage adi design language is actually expressed quite well on the Qasa, such as the ZX-style lace loops on the ankle, so the model hasn’t aged at all.

The familiar combination of stretchy neoprene uppers and wide elastic strapping returns, bordered by tumbled leather bumpers. A big Y-3 logo is emblazoned on the heel, while Yamamoto’s name is stealthily debossed on the forefoot.

As the adage goes: you had to be there. And if you weren’t, relive it via END. who have just re-released the Qasa.
