Is the 'Chlorophyll' finally receiving its highly anticipated retro return? Patta have just announced they'll be opening the vault for their 20th anniversary celebrations, and we spot an Air Max 1 silhouette in their teaser video! It better be the legendary green AM1s, as it wouldn't be a two-decade celebration without 'em! and the go hand in hand. The Amsterdam-based streetwear brand has delivered classic upon classic interpretation of innovative and iconic 1987 silhouette. With next year marking the Dutch tastemakers’ 20th anniversary, there’s reports we’ll be seeing the return of their iconic Air Max 1 ‘Chlorophyll’ in a ‘Matte Silver’ colourway.
Earlier this year Patta and the Swoosh would hook up again for a Fall 2024 release of the Nike Air Max 1. Now there’s a report from well-known Air Max fan that the initially rumoured Fall 2024 release will be a ’Chlorophyll/Matte Silver’ facade.
Founded by Guillauame Schmidt and Edson Sabajo, the Netherlands label are Air Max 1 connoisseurs. They’ve hooked up with Nike to cement their place in Swoosh history countless times. Over the years they’ve dropped banger after banger for their take on the classic shape. Their partnership with Nike first delivered the cannabis inspired ‘Homegrown’ in 2006. Then their 2009 run for Patta’s 5th anniversary delivered what Air Max collectors deem some of the greatest pairs in the line’s history. The ‘Purple Denim’, ‘Denim’, ‘Lucky Green’, and, what do you know, the ‘Chlorophyll’ have a special place in all Air Max collector’s hearts.
Next year happens to be Patta’s 20th birthday, so it seems they plan to make their turning of a second decade a special occasion with the rumoured return of the Patta x Air Max 1 ‘Chlorophyll’ with a Matte Silver finish. There’s currently no looks or details around if it will be a retro of the 2009 release, or a new version. Given that the name implies a two-toned aesthetic, perhaps we can expect to see the titular green hue on the upper complemented by the secondary colour’s grey hues. But for now, we’ll pour over photos of the 2009 version, picture above, and get our thinking caps on as to what Patta has in store for us.
This is currently still a rumour, so stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for more updates. If it’s confirmed, we can expect the sneakers to drop in fall next year on SNKRS in Fall 2024.
