Nike

Founded in 1964 by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight, the company started selling Onitsuka Tigers (now ASICS) under the name Blue Ribbon Sports. After Onitstuka threatened the relationship, Knight and Bowerman created Nike, a brand that would manufacture their own bespoke shoes as designed by Bowerman. Nike officially took over in 1971 and has since forged a remarkable path through the industry. Famed for their innovation, Nike have consistently pushed the boundaries of design and technology, from the introduction of Air cushioning in 1979 to the development of Flyknit and React foam. Collaborations with athletes and designers have yielded iconic silhouettes like the Air Max 1, Air Jordan line, and collaborations with Virgil Abloh's Off-White. Beyond footwear, Nike's influence extends into streetwear and fashion, solidifying their status as the number one sportswear brand.
