The world of hot sauce has taken pop culture by storm in recent years. Popularised by YouTube viral phenomenons like Hot Ones and – perhaps less culturally valuable – chilli challenges (shoutout to the ghost pepper), purveyors of hot sauce are seemingly slinging new recipes to legions of devoted chilli addicts every other day.

The team at Nike look like they’re capitalising on this latest trend with the ‘Hot Sauce’ – the themed sneaker originally slated to arrive for in 2024 (March 26). Rendering the mudguards with a crinkly, textured metallic silver, the sizzling colourway adopts classic white mesh underlays for the occasion. Over on the chilli red Swooshes, the theme is extended, with black speckles alluding to the natural ripening process of the chilli pepper. On the heels, things are getting super saucy, with a chilli replacing the ‘i’ in Nike, and the letterform somewhat reminiscent of late-night takeaway outlets.

Of course, the Nike Air Max 1 deserves its own postcode at this point. Another tour de force by the silhouette has been a mainstay of the sneaker industry since its inception in the late 80s. Always on the radar, the latest collaborators rumoured to work on the model is none other than New York City skate mecca, .

The Nike Air Max 1 ‘Hot Sauce’ is available right now from Nike.
