Jordan Brand gear up for September with the usual mix of legendary retros, hybrid surprises plus some newer models that reinterpret the Jordan legacy for a whole new generation. Standouts include the Jordan 9 in a nubuck rendition of the classic OG charcoal colourway, and a new Six Rings mix-up with a startling full-3M reflective upper. The smooth cruising CMFT line makes its debut with a cushy Jordan 11 x Air Max easyrider. For something more out of the box there's some bold L'Style IIs, including a pair of red and white suede models that have a little touch of the Kanye LVs about them. Check them all out inside...
While veterans of the sneaker game reminisce of a time before eBay, there's a new generation of heads on the rise ready to keep the sneaker scene pumping. With a know-how like no other, kids are tuning into live UStream broadcasts chatting with like-minded sneaker nuts all over the world, spreading knowledge and talking kicks 24/7. Heading the pack is LA native Franalations with his self-titled online sneaker channel - offering cats in-depth reviews on anything from Jordans, Air Max, G-Shocks to his beloved Nike SBs. Fran popped his video cam on pause to take time out to talk to SNKRFKR about the new generation of sneaker heads and why he feels a responsibility to keep them all well-informed.
It's always a nice refreshing change to see a sneaker collector so loyal to one brand - and even one model for that matter. So you can imagine our excitement when we stumbled across UK head Dean Morris, aka Sneakerphile. Having nearly chalked up a decade of collecting on the serious tip, Morris' love of the rubber-toed Superstar has catapulted this kooky customiser into the stratosphere. An invaluable member of Superstardb.com, Sneakerphile has quickly risen within the ranks of adidas Superstar customisers, racking up a burgeoning roster of clients, all fiending for his airbrushed goodness. We caught up with the comic book-loving, BMX-thrashing, adi nutter to get the 411 on just why those three little stripes make him go boom boom pow!
One of the standout events of Nike's World Basketball Festival was a day at the hallowed streetball shrine that is Harlem’s Rucker Park. Brazil and Puerto Rico were there to settle a score, with MC Bobbitto Garcia pouring on the verbal heat from the sidelines. Nothing gets left on the court at Rucker, and the locals made sure the talent on the tar were going to give it all they had! The Hyperfuses were out in force, and Nike was on hand with a mobile iD studio and plenty of fresh kicks for the fans. Check out how it all went down inside.
