ADIDAS SPEZIAL DECADE EXHIBITIONADIDAS SPEZIAL DECADE EXHIBITION
Via: Jody Hartley

adidas’ Spezial line launched in 2014 as a format to reinvigorate and update products from the Three Stripes’ storied archive. Curated by Gary Aspden, the SPZL line includes footwear, apparel and accessories, with the Spring/Summer 2024 collection featuring Gazelles, a Handball, and a Wensley. Now celebrating their tenth year, adidas SPZL really aren’t holding back! There will be an exhibition, headline performances from the likes of Black Grape and Stereo MCs, a five-day program from a shoemaker, a screening of past Spezial films, a Q&A with Gary Aspden, an exclusive sneaker release, and a retrospective adidas SPZL DECADE book.

The DECADE - 10 Years of adidas SPZL exhibition will be held in Darwen, Lancashire between May 17–26, and it will display an epic archive of the past ten years of SPZL footwear, along with vintage design references, unseen samples, drawings, signed sneakers, and a selection of rare SPZL pieces. While we’re sure every day of the exhibition will deliver, May 24 will be the day to attend if you want a chance to cop the new Nightsafe x Blackburn SPZL. Limited to 100 pairs, the Blackburn will be part of the DECADE pack, which will include four releases from the SPZL archive. Funds from the release of the Blackburn will be donated to Nightsafe, a charity supporting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The final golden nugget on the adidas SPZL ten-year menu is the retrospective adidas SPZL DECADE book, which will also launch at the exhibition. Featuring the full SPZL footwear archive, this is one collector’s item not to miss for fans of the Aspden collections. It will be chocked full of detailed product descriptions, photography, and quotes from people like Liam Gallagher and Vicky McClure.

Admission to the exhibition is free, but donations to Nightsafe are encouraged. Head here for further information.
