ASICS are on a roll with their retro releases lately. In the last six months, we have seen the Japanese brand resurrect a trio of memorable mid-90s runners with the return of the GEL-Mai, GEL-Diablo and GEL-DS Trainer OG silhouettes. On the collaboration front, Kith mastermind Ronnie Fieg has worked his magic on both the GEL-Mai and GEL-Diablo, but the honour of working on the very first GEL-DS Trainer OG colab has been bestowed upon the folks at Wood Wood as part of their 15th-anniversary celebrations.
The Danish fashion label has remained true to the model's high-mileage origins with traditional mesh and microsuede construction, and hits of striking metallic silver dished out liberally over the upper. Pops of rich red and bright blue have been added for the purpose of 'evoking memories of disc-based media players.' While 'W.W.' branding on the tongue and dual-branded insoles add the requisite collaborative touch.
The Wood Wood x ASICS GEL–DS Trainer OG will drop on May 6, exclusively at the ASICS Tiger store in Osaka, Japan and through the Wood Wood stores in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Frederiksberg and Berlin. If you can't make it to any of their bricks and mortar locations, you can try your luck online through Wood Wood's online store.
