Stan Smith wasn't the only player hitting the court with a Three Stripes signature shoe back in the 1970s. After a stint with Nike as the brand's very first pro-athlete early in the decade (the more you know!), Romanian star Ilie Năstase switched sides to camp adidas back in '78 with a sneaker imaginatively called the Nastase. The Japanese style-masters over at White Mountaineering have chosen to pay homage to the little-known silhouette in their latest collaboration. The end result bares more than a passing resemblance to ol' Stan's pro-model, thanks to the the colab's use of a perforation in place of the Three Stripes, but comes into it's own care of the suede mudguard around the toe. The inticate blend of suede and leather on the all-black upper has been executed to perfection. They're nothing flashy, but these make for a more than worthy addition to any Three Stripes rotation. Available September 19th from select adidas Originals stockists, including Titolo.
