UPDATE: This is it – the VLONE x NikeLAB Air Force 1 is set to drop this weekend and we now have an up-close look at the final production version. Releasing as part of the New York's Fashion Week festivities, the long-awaited AF-1 is said to be a tribute to the past, present and future of Harlem's basketball culture – and, no doubt, the area's influence on the adoption of the Uptown into popular culture.
Sadly for those outside the Big Apple, this release is a city exclusive and will be available through a special pop-up experience in Harlem on February 11. Stay tuned for location details.
UPDATE: At long last, VLONE's Nike Air Force 1 colab is finally set to receive an official retail release. Having been teased late in 2016 – and made available in super limited numbers at ComplexCon – the sought-after release is set to roll out through NikeLAB on February 9. As seen in a image posted to Instagram confirming the upcoming release, the next wave of pairs will feature one slight change from the initial run. The line 'Every Living Creative Dies Alone' wraps around the heel in bright orange.
UPDATE: It's official – a VLONE x Nike Air Force 1 is on the way! As expected, the upcoming collaboration made its public debut at ComplexCon in Long Beach, California, over the weekend. Made of premium tumbled leather, the design is the work of A$AP Bari. The VLONE co-founder set out to create a classic AF-1 that is as old school as possible, but remains relevant with its use of colour and materials. According to Bari, this release has 'the good elephant skin leather'. The black and orange low top will be a NikeLab exclusive, so you can expect the quality to be high and the numbers to be low when these drop.
No official release date has been announced at the time of writing, but we'll keep you posted soon as something solid is announced.
VLONE, the brand headed up by A$AP Rocky, A$AP Bari and Edison Chen, gave us a sneak peak of a possible Nike collaboration a few weeks ago. Now the latest word is that the shoe will be made available at ComplexCon on November 5. An appearance at the event would make sense when you consider how many Air Force 1-centred releases are scheduled to take place over the weekend – including the Stadium Goods grail sale, the early drop of the new SF Air Force 1 and the release of the super limited ASSC Uptown.
We’ll keep you posted with any info on the VLONE x Nike Air Force 1 colab as it comes to light.
