Vans marks it 50th year in the sneaker game (that’s half a waffle-soled century) with a mashed-up makeover of the Era. Here we see the sneaker’s minimalist silhouette get hit with a myriad of patterns with an aesthetic not dissimilar to a chameleon trying to camouflage against a fabric swatch book. The toe boasts blue and white stripes, the heel is red checkerboard and the side panels switch from pirate skulls to Hawaiian florals. Busy is an understatement. As a panacea to the wildness, the shoe is grounded by a classic white sole and a yellow tongue.
