It's been 30 years since the Nike hit shelves, and the Swoosh are turning up the birthday celebrations to the max. As a gift to those who couldn't get their hands on the shoe when it released back in March, Nike will be restocking the classic AM1 'Anniversary Red' retro. As , this retro isn't totally identical to the 1997 release: the 2017 iteration will have a different SKU from the original (so don't tell old heads that you've copped the 'same' shoes they bought back in the 80s).

Anyway, it's the shoebox that these red, white and grey AMs come in that has really caught our attention. The new box has been made to look just like packaging of the original '87 pair, pictured below.

When we compare the '87 and 2017 boxes, the similarities are pretty clear: the new box uses the same grey stripe and white text found in the OG release. To add to the vintage feel, the designers hung a Nike Air dog tag on the box's exterior. Unfortunately, Nike have ditched the classic thick red lid found on the original box, replacing it with the thin orange lid used for most releases these days.
