The Nike Special Field Air Force 1 was one of the most popular new silhouettes of 2016 – treating the already vertically-gifted Uptown to a sky-high upgrade with an abundance of foot-securing mechanisms. For his latest work, The Shoe Surgeon has drawn inspiration from the design of the SF-AF1 and applied a similarly rough and ready makeover to the Air Jordan 1. Built from the ground up using waxed canvas and high-grade Horween leather, the premium reinterpretation of the mid-80s silhouette adopts a noticeably higher stature, complemented with clasp-based ankle strap, quick-lace hooks at the collar and a gusseted tongue complete with hidden inner stash pocket.
At this stage, The Shoe Surgeon’s Special Field Air Jordan 1 is a one-of-one creation for a private client, but a run in other colourways is in discussion. In the meantime, if you want to create your own one-of-a-kind piece of footwear, you can head to The Shoe Surgeon’s website to get in touch with the maestro himself.
