The mythical patent leather 'Black/Gold' Air Jordan 1 has long been the holy grail for Jordan heads. Rumoured to have been manufactured in Italy exclusively for the GOAT's family and friends, and limited to just 20 pairs, the shoes are so rare that devoted collectors have spent the past three decades seeking even confirmation of their existence. Jordan Brand have long acknowledged their place in sneaker lore, including a limited edition 2013 'retro', and now they've been remixed for a very special release.
Following the lead set by the Air Jordan 1 'Top 3', these new black and gold Jays feature a mishmash make-up split between 'Chicago' and 'Bred' colour-blocking. The lateral blocking of one shoe carries over on to the medial of the other and vice versa. The shoes feature contrasting tongues, toe boxes, branding and outsoles. Like the supposed OG, they are patent leather, setting them apart from other recent AJ1 releases.
Union LA will be the first to drop these remixed Air Jordan 1s, exclusively at ComplexCon, which kicks off November 4. Jordan Brand have confirmed that a wider release is in the pipeline, but expect numbers on these to be incredibly tight.
