Since making its debut at the 2008 Olympics, the Nike Hyperdunk has been in bona fide frontrunner in the basketball performance market. There’s been no shortage of colourways and colabs, but none have quite been as meaningful as the Hyperdunk x Kay Yow Cancer Fund released in 2013. Continuing their partnership, Nike and the Fund have unveiled a new Hyperdunk for 2018.
Going for a contrasting aesthetic, the toe box and front portion of the outsole don a vivid pink, while the rear is dipped in black with complementary pink accents on the midfoot Swoosh, tongue tab, and medial heel Swoosh. The pink pops don’t stop there, with the outsole, insoles, and an ‘X’ (representing a decade of Hyperdunk) on the lacing system also dressed in Kay Yow’s trademark hue.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was started to honour NC State Women’s basketball coach Kay Yow, who passed away in 2008.
No official drop date has surfaced for the Nike Hyperdunk x Kay Yow 2018, but you can expect them to hit shelves in the next few months. Stay tuned!
