Last year, Nike brought a new level of interactivity to fans when they introduced NikeConnect technology to their latest range of NBA jerseys. Now, marking the first time the tech has been used in sneakers, the brand are set to debut the Air Force 1 NikeConnect QS.
Dropping in NYC, the Air Force 1 NikeConnect QS uses an NFC chip to bring Nike+ users unique and exclusive experiences. By tapping a smartphone on the sneaker’s embedded chip, users will gain access to secret sneaker drops, events and other content, including a monthly release portal known as The Choice. Users will also be given the opportunity to purchase one of two limited-edition Nike releases of their choice — beats lining up, that’s for sure.
At this stage, only select Nike+ users in NYC will receive invitations to purchase the Air Force 1 NikeConnect QS. So, if you’re desperate for a pair, you’d best hit up your own connects.
