Stella McCartney and adidas have had an ongoing relationship since way back in 2004. Together they’ve given the boundary between performance and fashion a solid nudge; producing silhouettes that effortlessly stand with one foot in the gym, the other on the high street. Take these futuristic Zilia sandal-hybrids as an example. The sneaker is swathed in a scalloped one-piece textile upper bearing a pattern comparable to a blast of TV static. Two secure foot straps, looking like hazard tape, run across the upper to secure the sneaker and cordon off a section of exposed foot. Adding some tech to the fashion flex, the Zilia’s sole is traversed by grooves for natural movement.
