Comme des Garçons are known for some pretty weird and wonderful Nike colabs, and their latest Swoosh offering takes things a step further (and higher). The Japanese fashion house looked to Harajuku to bring us their kawaii take on the Cortez, which debuted at Paris Fashion Week.
The classic silhouette hit the runway in modest black and white versions, but were, of course, given the requisite CDG twist. The usual saw-toothed sole was swapped out for a sky-high platform, and we must say, it looked surprisingly at home on the track shoe. The stacked foam soles came in striped and checkboard designs, keeping uppers monochrome. Outlandish as the shoe is, they fit in seamlessly among Rei Kawakubo’s avant-garde designs.
Word from the Swoosh is that these will release as part of the fall/winter collection, but an exact date hasn’t been named. We’ll keep you posted.
