Inspired by the director’s nominated film BlacKkKlansman, the special sneaker is covered in gold with red lining — a nice match for the red carpet, if we do say so ourselves. Look to the midsoles and you’ll find ‘truth to power’, ‘speak on it’, ‘resist’ and ‘BlacKkKlansman’ printed in bold lettering, while a zipper enclosure with Jumpman swing tag elevates the luxurious vibes. A badge logo for Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks studio hits the back of the heel, rounding out this one-of-a-kind Jay.
Unfortunately, Lee missed out on any gongs for the night, but at least he’s got golden kicks to take away. Lee was nominated for Best Director, while BlacKkKlansmen was also up for Best Drama. The film’s cast members John David Washington and Adam Driver were also going for Globes, nominated for Best Actor in a Drama and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.
