Vans is a brand predominantly known for its skateboarding heritage, but every now and then they treat us to something a little different. The upcoming colab between Sole Classics and Vans has turned out one such surprise – in the form of a vintage running silhouette – the OG Runner LX.
As Ohio natives, Sole Classics have drawn on local folklore for inspiration – basing the OG Runner LX on the tale of a boy named Kitchi (which translates to ‘Brave’) who was saved from a ferocious bear by a mysterious river. The decision to create a running style makes perfect sense in light of the story, Kitchi ran through the forest in his attempt to evade the bear before the water (the inspiration for the shoes vivid blue upper) carried him to safety. In a slightly sinister detail, a brown heel counter may hint towards the bear at Kitchi’s back. Decked out with premium materials the shoe is every bit as well built as we’ve come to expect from Vans’ premium Vault line.
The Sole Classics x Vans Vault OG Runner LX ‘Kitchi’ drops on June 25 exclusively via Sole Classics.
