Sneakers76 have been holding it down on the coast of Southern Italy for 10 years and counting. To celebrate their double-digit milestone, PUMA have connected with the Taranto boutique to produce a very special rendition of the Blaze of Glory. Utilising the neoprene-blessed SOFT iteration of the beloved Trinomic runner, the first-time collaborators have produced a make-up inspired by the mythological origins of Sneakers76's seaside hometown. The city is said to be founded by the god Taras, son of Poseidon, in appreciation for his father – who apparently instructed a dolphin to rescue him from a shipwreck following a treacherous sea voyage.
The dolphin itself is represented through this collaboration, as depicted on the city's emblem. Embracing the emblem's colour palette, the shoe features a sandy suede upper with rich caramel lace guards and sea blue neoprene sockliner. Just 500 pairs have been produced, with each pair individually numbered at the heel in gold etching, along with PUMA's iconic Big Cat logo. The shoe's inspiration is embossed in caramel leather on the tongue, with further dual-brand embossing on the leather sockliners.
The Sneakers76 x PUMA Blaze of Glory SOFT 'The Legend of the Dolphin' is available through Sneakers76 and select PUMA stockists globally on December 17. Collectors who make the trek to Taranto for the release (or are savvy enough to swoop a pair from the Sneakers76 online store) will receive their pair inside exclusive History Box packaging, featuring a Jason Markk cleaning kit – which you most definitely need if you try wearing these very non-waterproof kicks in the ocean waves!
