In the colab game, it's important to deliver something unexpected every now and then – to brave the archive cupboard and dust off that thing wedged down the back next to the Thigh Master. In this instance, that thing is the adidas Originals Trimm Star.
British retailer size? last revived the 70s training shoe in 2013. Back then, in ‘Argentina Blue’ and ‘Dark Marine’, suede uppers, black cup soles and dark three-stripe branding kept things classily quiet. Today’s colourway – the ‘VHS’ – favours gum soles and schmick off-white leather uppers. Why VHS? Well, the sneaker’s multicolour stripes – orange, red and blue that teeters on purple – are a shout-out to the now obsolete ritual of taping football games on VHS. In addition to their warming dose of nostalgia, the stripes round out a playful yet sophisticated palette.
Hit up size? on May 4, and stay tuned – another colourway will follow.
