Word up South Africa. Local retailers Shelflife and native designer Dr. Zulu have come together with New Balance to present an upcoming collaboration atop the heritage NB574 trainer. Hitting hard with the homeland cues, South African references are in abundance throughout the cunning collaboration. From the formidable Parktown Prawn insignia, traditional African tribal detailing, dramatic grey and yellow colour scheme, to the striking name, 'City of Gold' – an homage to the South African metropolis of Johannesburg and the enormity of its gold trade and wealth. But, there's more. Alongside the iconic cues, this tasty 574 boasts a myriad of mesh, nubuck, pigskin suede and to top it all off, 3M!
Without even seeing these in person we can tell they're going to be one of the most sought after NB colabs for 2014, so pay close attention to the following details so you don't miss your chance. First and foremost, the Shelflife x Dr.Z x New Balance 574 'City of Gold' will release exclusively in South Africa on April 17, followed by a April 28 global release at the following retailers; Up There Store, Highs and Lows, Capsule Store, Feature Sneaker Boutique, Nice Kicks, Packer Shoes, Kith NYC, Concepts, End Clothing, Crooked Tongues, Footpatrol, Hanon, Titolo, SNS, Mita Sneakers, and Limited EDT Vault.
