UPDATE: The Renarts x Reebok LX8500 'Dead End Kids' is right around the corner and we've just peeped our first on-foot look at the colab – in the light of day the black leather looks extra slick. Don't forget to pop on past the shop on October 18, or if you can't do that then hit up their website on October 20 for your chance.
Many professional sportsmen lived by a different credo in the 80s. The '86 New York Mets were triumphant on the field but their off-field antics were far from pitch-perfect. The team was plagued with scandals revolving around violence, jealousy, ego and substance abuse. The new Renarts Collaboration with Reebok draws inspiration from the team’s sordid past, and is titled ‘Dead End Kids’ after a cover article that Sports Illustrated ran depicting two of the teams most polarising players.
The Renarts x Reebok LX8500 ‘Dead End Kids’ features a ‘Mets Blue’ suede toe, with a solid black leather rear section. On the medial side they have a little bit of orange 3M, a reference to the two iconic neon signs that once stood tall at the Shea Stadium.
The Renarts x Reebok LX8500 ‘Dead End Kids’ will release on October 18 – along with a matching apparel range – at an in-store event at Renarts. The remaining pairs will go online on October 20 at 11am EST.
