The ‘Bok have truly embraced the sock. After unveiling the Sock Runner last year, they later teamed up Vetements for a collaborative iteration of the sleek silhouette. Debuting this week, the Sock Run.r adds to the brand's ever-growing drawer.
The Sock Run.r sees a technical knit upper on top of a split-cushioned midsole, the same sole unit used on the Reebok x Vetements Sock Runner. Cheeky upside-down ‘not for resale RBK sample’ print near the cuff offsets the black on the upper.
According to Reebok, the Sock Run.r’s midsole was taken from a 1996 Pump Evo prototype which never made it to production. Looks like the design team were well ahead of their time.
The Reebok Sock Run.r drops May 11 for $250 exclusively from Barneys, with a wider release at select retailers scheduled for May 18. That’s a lot cheaper than a Balenciaga Speed Trainer — just sayin’.
