UPDATE: The Sixers may have lost the 2001 NBA Finals, but Philly fans were at least treated to one hard-fought victory before they were steam-rolled by the Lakers in a 4-1 defeat. The nail-biting game pushed into overtime and, with less than a minute left on the clock, Allen Iverson crossed over Tyronn Lue to sink a jumper from 20-points out – ensuring victory and knocking the Lakers point guard to the floor. With Lue on the ground, Iverson took two steps over his fallen opponent in an infamous moment known as the 'stepover'. A moment that this limited retro release pays tribute to.
With just 500 pairs made, it won't be easy to get your hands on these Answer 4s – but Reebok are making sure Philly locals stand a pretty good chance. Retailer Lapstone & Hammer will be releasing their pairs on the morning of June 9, both in store and online. As an added incentive, the first 100 pairs sold in-store will grant the buyer access to an invite launch party later that night where Ivy himself will be in attendance. Better still, 20 of those recipients will be randomly selected for a 'VIP experience'. Celebrity sneakerhead DJ Clark Kent will be performing a set on the night, so you can expect one hell of a party!
The Reebok Answer 4 'Stepover' will go on sale June 9 at 11am EST exclusively through the Lapstone & Hammer, both in store and online.
Reebok have answered the prayers of Allen Iverson devotees with news that they will be reissuing one of his most famous sneakers. The Answer 4 ‘Playoffs’ release is a retro of the 'White/Black' pair worn by Iverson in the 2000/2001 season – the only time he played in the finals – and as such, it holds a lofty position in the line’s history. To honour its pedigree, Reebok are releasing the shoes with special packaging that includes an elbow band just like the one he wore on court. No question about it – these are going to be must-have for Iverson fans. But, with a run limited to 500 pairs, grabbing a pair won't be an easy task.
No release date for the Reebok Answer 4 Playoffs has been announced. Stay tuned and we’ll update you as more info comes to light.
