Virgil Abloh's 'The Ten' isn't the only release  this month due to overwhelming demand. Police in Richmond, Virginia, were forced to shut down the early release of Sean Wotherspoon's  x  hybrid at Need Supply Co. after hundreds of hopeful sneakerheads descended on the boutique clothing store.

Originally , the launch was intended to operate on a first come, first served basis – one of very few opportunities to land a pair ahead of their official release in March 2018.

According to police, more than 500 people had already begun lining up the night before the release. To say that the store underestimated demand would be a hideous understatement: Need Supply apparently only had 30 pairs available for early release. Two off-duty police officers were hired to control the crowds, but even when joined by 25 more officers, the crowd was still too big to control.

Wristbands were reportedly given out to the first 30 in line to collect their pairs the following morning.

If you weren't one of the lucky 30, you will unfortunately need to wait until March to cop the corduroy Air Max 1/97 at retail. Although, if you get really lucky, you might be able to score an early release pair for free. Wotherspoon has been travelling around this past week, dishing out free pairs in LA and Richmond. Keep an eye on his Instagram for updates on any future surprise drops.
