You get to a certain age when you feel like you’ve moved past sneaker gimmickry. But then Oklahoma City Thunder's Paul George reveals his PG 2 was designed in collaboration with Nike and PlayStation, and you learn that the tongue lights up, then the PS1 intro chimes in your head and you’re knocked right back into adolescence.

The small forward’s penchant for off-court play brought about the colab (George says he’s one of the NBA’s biggest gamers). The sneaker will come black as a PlayStation 4, with eyelets coloured for the controller’s triangle, circle, square and X — a colourway aptly called 'PlayStation.'

The shoe also boasts a bucketload of features. There’s variable lacing, additional Zoom Air in the forefoot and outsole traction informed by cymatic sound waves. But, as we mentioned, the sneaker’s tongue logos light up, which means the best type of ball you should play with these is NBA2K.

Look for the sneakers to land on February 10.
