UPDATE: The Parley x adidas Ultra Boost is finally ready for its big debut. The revolutionary take on the Boost-bound silhouette features an upper constructed from waste-reducing Parley Ocean Plastic, woven together using Tailored Fibre Technology. The fibre is produced from a recycled combination of plastics collected in coastal areas of the Maldives, together with illegal deep-sea gillnets. Just 50 pairs will be released, available exclusively through an upcoming competition to be held on Instagram. For a chance at winning a pair, you will need to post a creative video pledging 'to avoid single use plastic items and support Parley's Ocean Plastic Program'. The competition will run until July 31, 2016. Keep an eye on adidas and Parley's social channels for the full competition details.
In collaboration with Parley for the Oceans, adidas today unveiled its most praiseworthy Ultra Boost to date. Boasting an upper that is constructed completely of yarns and filaments recycled from ocean waste and illegal gill nets, this is truly a positive step forward for footwear. While this is no new thought process of using recyclable materials in footwear, its merit comes in the fact that there are too few of the bigger names doing it. A 2016 release is the word floating around the traps, but here’s to you adidas – cheers! Now go make 100,000 of these things and give it a hyped up premium name so there is an actual impact.
