Jordan Brand couldn't keep these 'Wings' caged any longer, so they've decided to give us a full image set and release date. Far better than the cursory glance we got of the shoes in March, this comprehensive look shows the bronzed Jays from all angles – and reveals exactly how limited they'll be. Pics of the inner tongue show that only 19,400 pairs have been made, adding weight to our speculation that they could prove to be just as sought after as the Wings AJ12s.
Jordan fans will be happy to know that the shoes also come with a narrative. The hidden Wings detailing on the translucent outsole and eyelet strap inner are a reference Michael Jordan's 1985-86 season, during which he suffered a broken foot and sat out some 60 games before proving himself once he stepped back on-court. It's this message of self-belief that Jordan Brand look to relay to the youth in the Wings program, which promotes the importance of education internationally.
The Wings Air Jordan 1s will be available on May 17 from select Jordan accounts.
