Hot on the heels of last month’s py_rates leak, Nike has officially unveiled their new Air Force 1 collaboration with award-winning New York—based label Public School. According to the Swoosh, the kicks were built by PSNY’s Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne last year to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Bruce Kilgore’s 1982 classic. Chow and Osborne crafted their own unique take on the high-top by deconstructing low, mid and high versions of the original before using the various parts to piece together their own take on the silhouette. The result is a Frankensteined AF-1 that juxtaposes its of-the-moment deconstructed design language with tried-and-true white, grey and black colourways.
All three versions of the kicks will hit PSNY’s 3 Howard Street pop-up in NYC on September 4 before a global release the following day.
