Nike's beloved React kicks are getting a bold makeover in the form of a brand new mid-top design.
Dubbed the React Runner Mid, the new design takes on the sole unit of the React Element 87 and 55 while adding an all-new mid-top upper. The kicks come designed by the Swoosh's in-house ISPA unit (which stands for 'Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, Adapt') as it aims to put unique spins on some of the Beaverton crew's most modern and forward-thinking tech. Here the React cushioning is coupled with a technical aesthetic of lightweight TPE construction, bold branding cues, and taped seams. Perhaps the most notable addition is the nylon pull tabs that grace the sides of the silhouette, which not only allow the wearer to more easily pull up the kicks, but also act as loops to guide the lacing around the ankle and through a corresponding loop at the heel.
Stay tuned for concrete release info, but expect the React Runner Mid to arrive this holiday season in limited quantities at select Nike spots.
