Essentially an evolution of Irving's signature Kyrie 4, the new design echoes the aesthetic of its predecessor, but employs a few key differences. For starters, a new 'Third Eye' graphic graces the heel while the shoe's traction pattern takes cues from discreet geometries like those on Kyrie's lefthand Hamsa tattoo. The shoe also utilises a new articulated forefoot Zoom Air bag, Air Zoom Turbo, that was specifically designed to follow the curvature of the outsole to assist with start-and-stop play. Finally, a Venus flytrap—inspired containment system appears above the Zoom unit and uses Flywire that locks into the Turbo unit to amplify its responsiveness.
Nike plan to push a bevy of special colourways throughout the season as Kyrie asks himself a series of questions to balance honesty and style: 'What are you willing to try? What are you willing to push forward? What are you willing to go see? What are you willing to bring into the influence of what you're creating?'
Look for the shoe to launch November 22 in its debut 'Black Magic' colourway.
