Kyrie Irving hit one of the biggest shots in NBA history back in the 2016 Finals, breaking an 89-89 deadlock with what would prove to be the game-winning three with under a minute to play. The result? A thwarted repeat for the Golden State Warriors, and the first-ever championship for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
As a nod to that clutch basket, Nike are dropping a gold-accented rendition of the Kyrie 5 on the same day as Game 7 of this year's NBA Finals – if that decider is required. The upcoming release puts an alternate spin on the black/gold/white colour-blocking that graced Irving's Kyrie 2s in that Game 7, and opts for a predominately black look to go with a gold/white midsole and additional gold hits to the logos.
Expect a June 16 release for $130 and, in the meantime, re-live Kyrie's 2016 heroics below.
