Kobe’s 2016 has been a productive one. While the Black Mamba may not be on the hardwood in a playing capacity, his legacy continues. After an seemingly endless stream of Kobe 11 colourways and editions, Nike presented a slightly tongue-in-cheek titled silhouette – the Kobe A.D.
The A.D. is definitely not a posthumous homage, instead it’s a reinvigorated basketball make-up that takes the best parts of previous Kobe releases and propels them into the future. After a metallic adorned initial drop, the newest model is treated to a more of an understated colourway. The sneaker’s engineered mesh upper is black while the outsole – housing a big serve of Lunarlon – is made up in white. Interestingly, the moulded traction overlays are translucent allowing us to view the sculpted lines of the midsole. Adding a hint of colour, the embroidered heel logos blush in a blood red hue.
The Nike Kobe A.D. is available now from select stockists, including Capsule Toronto.
