next hybrid will be hitting stores this week, and they’ve taken the liberty of explaining why it’s special. New to today’s generation, this Air Max 90/1 is actually a retro. As Nike’s ‘Inside the Vault' series notes, the sneaker first appeared in 1992. At the time, Nike had two gems on their hands: they’d introduced the five years prior and the newer was crushing it. Both were amazing on their own, but imagine if they could bring them together somehow?

It’s obvious now, but back then it was a completely new direction for Nike. The Air Max 90/1 was the first of the Air hybrids. It hummed on the market, with a couple thousand dropping from 92–94, but was benched for two decades. On June 9, it will return in all its glory — save the date on the calendar below so you don't miss out.
