All the way back in 2004 – the golden years of Air Force 1 – Tokyo titans mita sneakers put their spin on the mighty Uptown. The resulting colab was unlike anything that came before it. Nicknamed 'OnkoChishin', the make-up featured ostrich skin leather at the toe, gold stitch around the Swoosh and metallic green patent leather at the heel. While commonly regarded as one of the greatest Uptowns of the period – if not all time – the released version wasn't the only design mita conjured up.
During the sampling stages, an alternate version was produced that embraced the same core elements, but reinterpreted them in an entirely different form. With 2017 marking the 35th anniversary of the AF-1, Nike's Japanese design team have revisited the original scrapped concept and applied it to the Dunk with mita's blessings. The Japanese-exclusive release faithfully mimics the original design and is undoubtedly the closest we will ever come to owning this piece of CO.JP history.
The Nike Dunk Low JP 'mita sneakers' will be available from July 8, exclusively through mita sneakers, Nike Harajuku and NikeLAB MA5. A matching mita sneakers x Magic Stick #TODAYSKICKS Tag Mat will also be available for purchase.
