UPDATE: With the 2015 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection just one week away, it’s time to take a closer look at these imaginative kicks. Whether or not these suit your personal tastes, you have to hand it to the courageous kids behind this year’s collection – these are some of the most creative designs going round! From personalised aglets to glitter outsoles to intricate reflective designs, there are elements in each design that could only come from a child’s imagination. The 2015 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection will release on November 21st at 10am EST on Nike.com and at select Nike retailers.
It’s been 12 years since Nike first partnered with OSHU Doernbecher to give kids in Doernbecher Children’s Hospital the chance to create a sneaker they’ve always dreamed of while helping raise funds and awareness. The tradition continues this year with the newly unveiled ‘Freestyle 2015 Collection’ – and, hot damn, these kids have come up with some heat! The collection includes six different styles: the Air Jordan 13 Retro, the Air Max 95, the Air Max 90, the Lebron 13, the Free 5.0 TR Fit 5 and the Nike SB Stefan Janoski. The 2015 Janoski is hands down the SF office favourite. Inspired by a young man’s hero, Batman, the kicks are black but have reflective detailing when captured in the right light, revealing a hidden Batman logo – cool, right? The collection will release November 21 online at Nike and at select Nike retailers stateside.
