2017 marks an important anniversary year for Nike. Having celebrated three decades of Visible Air with this year's Air Max Day celebrations, the Swoosh have now turned their attention to one of the brand's true OGs. Born in 1972, during the brand's second official year under the Nike name, the Cortez is officially 45 years old – but not a day out of style. We can expect some impressive anniversary make-ups to hit the classic this year, the first of which is a tribute to Long Beach, California.
A West Coast staple since its debut, the sneaker has continually proved a favourite out on the streets of Long Beach – especially on the feet of LB local Snoop Dogg – making it a fitting location to receive its own Cortez. This limited edition make-up features a basic nylon upper, dyed a regal blue for the city. Crisp white hits and accents of gold keep things clean, while the heel is adorned with a proud and loud shoutout to the Aquatic Capital of America.
The Nike Cortez XLV 'Long Beach' will be available June 1 through NDC and select Nike stockists.
