UPDATE: Not long now. The crew from Overkill have taken the Nike Cortez Jewel for its first public appearance and it looks like it handled the experience in a graceful manner. If low-key charm is your kind of thing then keep your browser dialled for that June 3 drop.
UPDATE: Nike have recognised the Cortez's 45 years of loyalty by giving it a clutch of Jewels. As a Quick Strike release these runners are limited in number, which only makes them more precious. Those looking to own a piece of history should be ready when they land at select Nike accounts on June 3.
Nike have dug down to the bedrock of the brand’s history to dust off the classic jewel Swoosh and mount it on their historic Cortez model. The upcoming release is one of the cleanest back-to-basics iterations we’ve seen in a while – with nothing more than white leather and EVA contrasted by a sole wedge and a little Swoosh. It’s a fitting tribute to the grandaddy silhouette of Beaverton (the Cortez is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year) as well as a welcome addition to the current Jewel revival.
The Nike Cortez Basic Jewel will be available from June 3 at select stockists, as well as online from NDC.
