UPDATE: So we managed to get our hands on a pair of these before the global drop, and all we can say is that these are absolutely stunning. Everything you could ever want from a retro – real talk! Catch them dropping at select Nike.com and Nike accounts commencing tomorrow.

The  is one of the most iconic runners in Nike's illustrious performance history, the first track shoe released by the company while it was still in its infancy in 1972. Thanks to the exposure from the Munich Olympics the same year, the Cortez became a huge success and was a cornerstone in the brand's success, and partly responsible for where the brand is today. Because of its reverence, Nike has continuously released the shoe over the years, becoming a classic staple of the brand's retro range alongside modern classics such as the Air Max series. This month, we'll see the Nike Cortez re-released in an original colourway made famous by Tom Hank's Forrest Gump, true to the original design from the exposed foam tongue to the unmistakable herringbone outsole. What other shoe cemented a sportswear giant, is affectionately adored by mainstream film buffs and is religiously worn by LA cholos? Hit Nike.com and select accounts this Saturday, 28th of February to pick up a little piece of Nike history.
