Nike Bless The Kyrie 2 With A 'what The' Colourway
To reflect on the scale of ’s achievements with his second signature model, have blessed the shoe with their famed ‘What The’ make-up. But this stark, creamy 'What The' isn’t what you’re used to.
Instead, this is an almost defiant opposition of ‘What The’ make-ups of days gone by, which were born from Nike wanting to do something different. Says Nike basketball design director, Leo Chang: ‘Customisers are doing it where they just paint up their own 'What The' versions. So we started to think about how we could create something only Nike could do.’ The result is a medley of textures that samples swatches from some 15 s.
References to the ‘’ and the graphics from the ‘Inferno’ colourways have been sculpted into the baller, with a single gold eyelet alluding to Kyrie's championship ring. The blanket of colour also affords the make-up further nods to the Kyrie canon, by opening up doors to multiple colourways. In what wasn’t entirely apparent from the first sighting of the shoe, this What The will have two colourways: a ‘Sail’ for the debut ‘Dream’ Kyrie 2, and a minty 'Green Glow' for the ‘Kyrie-oke’ addition.
