have shared an insight into their newest advancement in cushioning, a system called Joyride that took over a decade to create.

The announcement comes just after leaks , and Mark Parker also raved about the tech in his quarterly address. We can’t speak to all models that appeared in the leaks, but one of them, the Flyknit edition, will be making it to shelves.

Typical of Nike’s knit builds, the design is lithe and streamlined up top. Down below, things get interesting, with a heel unit that shows not Visible Air, but Visible… Joy? Hundreds of supportive beads form under foot, which Nike have told Engadget is the ‘most cushioned ride we’ve ever been able to deliver’.

In true Nike fashion, these can attend to performance runners – and will show ‘no concerns’ of wear for as many as 450 miles – but are also suitable for running dilettantes.

Nike Plus members will be able to cop pairs on July 25, with a wider release expected on August 15.
