UPDATE: Stateside, stateside. For those that have been patiently waiting, the wild Air Trainer 2 'Safari' has just popped up on American soil at a string of retailers. Those needing that auto-cop, Sneaker Politics got you covered.
It appears that the Nike Air Trainer 2 has become a vessel for carrying ghosts of sneakers past, first rocking up in the Air Max BW OG Persian Violet colourway last year, and now again in the same unforgettable scheme and textile treatment as the Air Safari from Tinker Hatfield's infamous Air Pack back in '87. It's not the first time the ostrich leather-inspired textile has popped up on a Trainer though, we saw it a couple of years back on the Air Trainer 1 and again just recently on the Trainer 1 Low black and chlorophyll editions. There's also another element of inspiration at play here too, the sneaks come adorning NFL Hall of Famer Barry Sanders' number from his College years on the heels. If we were Big Baz we'd definitely be pretty chuffed with being bestowed a special sneak like this. You like? We love. Catch these at select Nike Quickstrike accounts including Tokyo's atmos beginning this Saturday, May 17th.
